Chris Brown, a Virginia native, is raising awareness about the viral social media reports stating that 100 children have disappeared from the state since June 2025.

Virginia State Police is publicly disputing these claims. According to their records,
“Since January 2025 to current, a total of 3,274 children have been reported missing to the MCC (Missing Children Clearinghouse). Of these, 141 (as of 10:30 AM Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025) are still missing or approximately 4%."
These alarming claims, regardless of accuracy, have raised renewed concerns about the Amber Alert system. Several individuals report that they once received regular notifications about missing children, but say those alerts have significantly declined or ceased altogether in recent years.
According to the NCMEC (National Center for Missing & Exploited Children), 30% of children missing in the US were Black in 2023.
